Devscovery, Atlas, VB, and Warhawks

Devscovery New York isn’t far away. I just purchased a plane ticket and put the finishing touches on a bunch of code samples. If you’re at the conference, be sure to attend my session on Microsoft Atlas. I have some rocking demos to show, and I now have a VB version of the samples for those interested.

The weather hasn’t been good for flying this week in East Tennessee, but as soon as it warms up, I’ll be back at the field with my newest creation: a scale-model P-40 Warhawk (see below). It’s made by Hangar 9, and it has a 4-stroke Saito 100 on the nose to give it that warbird hum. It also has a functional exhaust stack (see the black exhaust pipes sticking out the sides). Functional exhaust stacks are rare even on scale models, and this one adds an extra touch of realism to an already realistic-looking plane. The retracts are from Century Jet, and they rotate 90 degrees as they fold back–just like the real thing. I’ve flown it a half dozen times and it looks awesome in the air. I tweaked it after the first couple of flights so that it’s perfectly trimmed and balanced. I can’t wait to get it back in the air.

Oh yes, I also have a VB version of the SqlSiteMapProvider that I wrote for MSDN Magazine. The C# version has proven to be a popular download, and several people requested that I publish a VB version, too. The VB version supports automatic reloading of the site map if the site map data changes in the database, just like the C# version. Use the link below to download it. I’ll be honest and tell you that I haven’t tested the VB version as thoroughly as I did the C# version, so if you download the VB version and use it, let me know if you discover any glitches.
