Portland, OR — August 27, 2018 — Atmosera, a leading Microsoft Azure cloud services provider, recently announced the results from its third year of participation in Portland General Electric’s Clean Wind renewable energy program.
Between 2017 and 2018, Atmosera reached several clean energy milestones by:
- Purchasing 5.77 million kWh of renewable energy
- Eliminating 9.11 million pounds of C02 emissions
- Achieving an environmental impact equal to 10.17 million miles not driven, or 1,085 trees planted
Like other companies that provide cloud computing services, Atmosera has multiple servers and a substantial networking infrastructure that take up a large amount of energy. CEO Jon Thomsen said the company recognizes the challenge and views PGE’s Clean Wind program as a chance to significantly reduce the company’s environmental impact.
