Looking Ahead to 2008

I just returned from Redmond after teaching a class at Microsoft this week. John Robbins was there teaching, too. As luck would have it, Richter was teaching somewhere in Connecticut, so we missed a chance for all three of us to be together. The three of us are only in the same place at the same time a few times a year. I think our next rendezvous is in Austin for January’s Devscovery.

This was the first time I’ve ever been on the west coast on election night. It was kinda cool being able to watch late returns without having to stay up all night. When I went to bed at 1:00 a.m. (Pacific time), there was still no decisive winner, but by that time it was pretty clear that Bush was going to win.

This was the most partisan election I can remember. Regardless of who won, I’m glad one candidate got a clear majority. I don’t think another four years of “he stole the election” and “he’s not my president” is healthy. Time to rally around the president, folks!

I predict that in 2008 we’ll be choosing between Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani in a rematch of the Senate race that got cut short in 2000 when Giuliani dropped out for health reasons. If it happens, you read it here first. 🙂
