A New WinDBG!

Wow! I go on vacation[1] for two weeks and the world changes. Such is life in the software development world working on internet time. Microsoft releases its Flash killer, which is nice, but more importantly, a new version of WinDBG rolls to the world. For those of you that have been stuck with the WinDBG stack-walk-with-.NET-PDB-files hang, the good news is that from my preliminary testing, they’ve finally fixed that horrific bug. Whew! Now you can add stack walking back to your ADPlus scripts to see where life stands on the nastiest of production problem. That bug fix alone is why you want to be using the new WinDBG.

  • John,
It appears to me that the sos.dll for .net 1.1 (clr10/sos.dll) continues to be updated with no updates to the 2.0 sos.dll. Am I missing something?
    I appreciate your work!

  • Kerry,
Sadly, it looks like there won't be any updates to the .NET 2.0 SOS any time soon. You'll have to ask Microsoft why. :(
